Amanda Rae Matson, originally from Millis, Massachusetts, is an avid performer of opera, oratorio, and art song. Currently residing in New York City, Amanda performs regularly throughout the Northeast, appearing as Rosalinde in Strauss's Die Fledermaus, Annina in Verdi's La Traviata, Erste Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and covering Juliette in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette with The New York Opera Exchange.

Amanda has appeared in performances in Boston Lyric Opera’s production of Carmen, MetroWest Opera’s The Magic Flute, and Opera del West’s L’Elisir d’Amore. She was selected as a yearlong Resident with the Opera Singers Initiative Vocal Institute in NYC where she performed at Lincoln Center and in concert at Alvin Ailey with the Camerata NY Orchestra.

An adamant lover of art song, Amanda has performed in numerous recitals, appearing with The Art Song Preservation Society of New York, the Halcyon Chamber Series, and as a guest artist in the SUNY Albany Bel Canto recital series. She competed as a finalist in the Alfredo Silipigni International Vocal Competition with the New Jersey State Opera, a finalist in the Jesse Kneisel Lieder Competition, and was awarded first place in the Friends of Eastman Opera Competition, judged by Thomas Lausmann.

Amanda received a Master of Music with honors from The Eastman School of Music, where she performed as Hanna Glawari in Lehár’s The Merry Widow and as Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. Her Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, was received from Florida State University, where she covered the role of Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff and performed as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel.

Amanda most recently performed as Suor Angelica in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and covered Rosalinde in Strauss's Die Fledermaus in the 2019 Vienna Summer Music Festival.
